Today I made a Sachertorte, the quintessential Austrian cake...

The Schlagobers is missing! [emoji6]
I know. The whipped cream fell victim to my remorse for breaking the diet...

Connoisseurs de la cuisine Autrichienne will immediately recognize this as a Guglhupf, in this case more specifically a marble Guglhupf.

Sorry, Linde for another Austrian food term for which I am sure you guys in Germany have another name.

Looks like I couldn’t leave my fingers off the oven and had to bake something. As they say all good things in life are either unhealthy, immoral or make one fat, and this Guglhupf is no exception, so let’s ditch the diet!

I would love to share this lovely Guglhupf with you all over coffee or tea in the afternoon, but since nobody lives close to here, I guess I’ll have to eat it by myself...

Hugs,

Heidemarie

I love poppy seeds and most of the sweets made with it!
Me obviously too!

Just here on this side of the big pond it is hard to find poppy seeds in larger quantities...

We 'ave a  newly acquired "henhouse" so, depending on rooster count,
and whether 4-year-old keeps naming them or not . .
