Useful voice links
« on: May 09, 2020, 07:33:34 PM »
When you start working with your voice, pitch can become one of the critical issues. A feminine voice should be comfortable to use and to avoid damage, you shouldn't be too high, too low or too loud. Many people can reach the feminine range without surgery so it's best try therapy first. These links combined with a voice app should give you an idea what your voice pitch is. Most people can benefit from a voice therapist and your doctors can probably suggest one in your area. If you're unable to find one, some therapist will provide therapy  over Skype. If you have questions, feel free to start a thread here and we will try to answer your questions.

While phone apps are very useful, there is a professional package that you can use on your home computer called Praat. While this package doesn't give you real time feedback, it is still useful when analyzing a recorded voice sample. Best of all, it's free and you only need to add a microphone to your computer if you don't already have one.

Thank you, Dena

Lena in Kiev's "Shortcut to female voice" page helped me understand how using the muscles that control larynx position affect the voice. Once I'd read it over and over as she suggested, that is... and identified the feel and action of each.

I think it's worth studying even for those under professional tutelage... and probably a huge help for anyone not.
