I have to agree on this point. The killing of George Floyd was horrific and it is true that black people are arrested, imprisoned and killed disproportionately to other ethnic groups. However, the level of unrest is disproportionate to what would happen in normal times. It is not even clear to me, at this stage, that the violence against Floyd was racially motivated, as one of the officers charged with aiding and abetting the murder is an African American with a Chinese surname. The case of the 75 year-old protester who was severely injured by riot police shows that some cops are sufficiently devoid of prejudice to crack our skulls regardless of our race, religion or age.
Many people who are rioting or destroying monuments must be releasing aggression pent up by the coronavirus lockdown. There are also protesters with other agendas who have piggy-backed the Black Lives Matter cause, and there are many bullies who have hijacked a worthy cause simply as an excuse to throw their weight around.
The targets of the international rioters have spread to include historic figures who had a role in colonialism. A statue of Christopher Columbus has been pulled down in the USA and in England, statues of national heroes such as Sir Francis Drake, Lord Baden-Powell and even Winston Churchill are under threat. I don't know where it will end. Every statue of any inhabitant of the Americas, who was not Native American, is a statue of someone who benefitted in some way from the colonisation of those continents.

No doubt, you are most probably correct. However, l think what is being missed here, (maybe)....that the BLM movement 8s a front for anti republican government anarchists.

The founders of BLM have publicly stated that they are Marxist's. That means communists to me and shouldn't require a lengthy explanation.
