Dr Powers Zoom Conference (live)
« on: May 28, 2020, 01:17:28 AM »
I just watched the video. Dr. Powers seems very enthusiastic, open, inquisitive, intelligent and accommodating. He seems the kind of a doctor that I'd gladly go to . .

Dr Powers, in conjunction with facialteam, just completed a live 2 hour+ ZOOM meet 'Q & A' that has been recently uploaded here:

Hello everyone! We just finished the livestream (and)
The video of the whole thing should be up shortly, its about 130 minutes long.

I didn't get to answer many of the questions asked during the livestream, and I feel terrible about that, so please ask them here and I'll do my best to get to them all.
All can be purviewed here:

Haven't had a chance to sit through it yet so will just leave as "no comment" for now.

OK... a milder, general interest post for a change.

So... I did watch it. Luckily the doctors ignored the super cringey suggestion in the beginning to introduce themselves "and their pronouns," or I might not have... LOL. One thing that struck me was that within the discussion transsexual was eliminated from the name of the WPATH Standards of Care. Interesting. (1.56:01 from the end of the video)

The first hour consisted mostly of introductions and background information.

The main new item of information for me was the uses of topical hormones. At around 44 minutes before the end of the video Dr. Powers tells about using them to e.g. improve skin texture and prepare for SRS. Since I plan to have another type of surgery, I guess restoring "it" to maximum glory starting by use of testosterone cream prior to the operation does not appeal to me, but for those going for penile inversion it might be very helpful. How he uses a very mild estriol cream to rejuvenate / keep his own skin young was quite intriguing.

The way Facial Team's developed more accurate ways to sculpt the bone was also interesting. 3D guides made prior to surgery certainly sound like an effective way to ensure symmetry and desired results.

At around 23 minutes before the end I found it nice how Dr. Powers is willing to tell his patients to get their acts together. Apparently he's even got some who decided to give up and commit suicide to join the peace corps instead... he's definitely no mere pill dispenser. He has 2000 patients and a waiting list of I think he said 700. So it seems his patients like that attitude too.

I was impressed by how both he and Facial Team do care about their patients. FT offers free CT scans and consultations to those who can make it to Marbella, and does weekly Skype consultations for those who can't. And very comprehensive aftercare. With service like that I'm sure a lot of patients will want to go to them. One datum I also found interesting was that the FT patients' average age has decreased drastically since they started operation, and is now in the mid-twenties.

All in all the best kind of advertising... LOL. Both are the types of doctors whom I love to associate with. Very enthusiastic about what they do, and truly caring.

And... all in all intriguing enough that since there is a specific sequela of a past beating I would like to have fixed I did ask for a Skype session to see what Facial Team would say, and what they were like in person. To find the doctor I spoke with every bit as friendly and professional as the video had led me to believe. No hard sell whatsoever. He told me there was nothing I absolutely needed done, but explained what refinements the various procedures they offered would achieve, and provided pictures that showed the simulated results. And invited me to come for a face to face consultation should I ever be in the area.

Very nice. For me SRS is paramount... but perhaps some day...

Dr Power's accepted insurance providers are here. I turn 65 at the end of February so will probably get on waitlist soon and tailor my selected Medicaid coverage toward him and therapist Erin . .
