It is no secret that l am a strong advocate of Dr. Harry Benjamin's seminal work. His was a study going back to pre-war Germany, including studies in conjunction with Magnus Hirshfield at the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft in Tiergarten, Berlin. All research records there were destroyed by the Nazis.
Nevertheless, Benjamin continued his studies in New York, publishing numerous studies on those seemingly "trapped in the wrong bodies".
He became famous as a kind, caring and compassionate man, highly knowledgeable and able and willing to help those with a mostly mis-understood and highly stigmatized condition.
What l find extremely troubling is the free and easy access is either no longer available, or extremely hard to find.
The link l used to down load his work is no longer findable b at least by this old luddite. They have been "disappeared".
If anyone might have try is link, please post it here so that others might have access to this informative read and make their own judgement as to its worth.
Thanking you in advance for your help.

When you look this document, you need to consider the time it was written in. The gender spectrum idea hadn't been formulate and probably wouldn't have been without this ground breaking document. Dr Benjamin worked with what was known and expanded the treatment beyond what was available at the time. Some of the ideas might be a bit dated but to see how far we have come, we need to know where we came from.

Dr Benjamin's work was something I read in college and without it, I wouldn't have had the knowledge I needed to start my transition. Even by the time I was near surgery, these ideas had evolved but the thoughts in this book can still expand your knowledge of treatment.
